Katharina Krenkel works both sculpturally and graphically. Her sculptures are created from wool and other crochetable materials such as barrier tape, rubbish bags, wire, video tapes and rubber profiles. She creates “soft sculptures”, in contrast to the conventional understanding of sculpture, which favours “hard” materials. Her works can be seen from 26 July at the HBK Gallery in Saarbrücken, where she and other former students will be exhibiting. She shows her two-part work “ON/OFF”, a preliminary study for her work “Pleasure Patchwork“.
